Ginger tea appears to reduce nausea. Patients suffering from nausea may see a reduction in their symptoms. In fact, ginger tea is often recommended to pregnant women to alleviate morning sickness. Moreover, it seems to also help with nausea in patients who undergo chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer.

It also reduces blood pressure. While not a cure or treatment, any food or drink that naturally lowers blood pressure is a good one to add to our pantry. High blood pressure is a growing concern. The World Health Organization says that an estimated 1.4 billion adults aged 30–79 suffered from hypertension in 2024. That equates to 1 in 3 adults worldwide in that age range.

Given these figures, drinking ginger tea daily might be a good idea.

Third, ginger has analgesic effects on osteoarthritis. An analgesic effect means that a substance either diminishes or completely relieves pain. Arthritis is a painful condition that affects the joints, such as knees, wrists, feet, and hands. Osteoarthritis commonly affects the knees, hips, hands, and spine. Once again, while this is not a treatment, there might be some benefit to consuming ginger tea for alleviating pain and inflammation.

It may aid in digestion. According to Johns Hopkins University, ginger aids in the emptying of the gut by helping food move quickly through the gastrointestinal tract. This, in turn, results in less bloating and stomach discomfort.

Last but not least, ginger tea is a delicious beverage that can be enjoyed daily. It has a distinctive spicy flavour that many people enjoy. There are also flavoured combinations; however, pure ginger tea is usually best.
